This is it, election week. The stars suggest that one chapter ends and a new one begins, but they don’t say in what direction. The world has grown grimmer over the last few years as we work towards a pivotal nexus in 2020 when the two planets we associate with power and control, Saturn and Pluto, conjunct in competent, control-oriented Capricorn. The politics of the United States stay in metamorphosis through 2023 as Pluto returns to its position when our country was born. These are revolutionary aspects, but there are many ways to do a revolution.
This growing Saturn-Pluto conjunction really questions how we use power, how we hold boundaries, and how we govern. The last time Saturn and Pluto conjunct was in friendly Libra, in 1982, at the beginning of the Reagan era, when many thought control looked good. Saturn and Pluto last opposed one another in 2001, right on the ascendant -descendant of USA’s mythic birth chart, with Pluto in Sagittarius- the sign of faraway places, travel, religious philosophies, and law- opposed Saturn in Gemini-sign of the twins- when others try to control the USA through a shattering event, and America trickled down on control in response.
Capricorn is associated with parental wisdom, the high-note of Capricorn takes its responsibilities most seriously and believes in honor and respect, it likes clear goals, a mountain to climb like the mountain goat which is its symbol. The shadow side of Capricorn just settles for patriarchal control and domination. This looming conjunction in Capricorn is intensely competent, but we have to add the idealism and see how this revolution of power, boundaries, and control can serve all sentient beings.
The Sun trines idealistic Neptune this Sunday, which can help us dream big and supports that idealism. On Monday the Moon conjuncts Venus, now retrograde back into friendly, feminine-empowering Libra, and then enters Scorpio. Change-inducing Uranus retrogrades back into feisty, fiery, Aries. The Moon enters Scorpio Tuesday morning on the last day of the lunar cycle. Our memories are long, our decisions will tend to be made by looking backwards rather than looking forwards.
Wednesday brings a new Moon in Scorpio, beginning an intense new cycle that wants to get down to work but continues to stir the depths of the human psyche to see what monsters lurk there. It is not a good week to bate people, because the charge is strong, defenses are up, and a lot of triggered unconscious material fuels our interactions.
On Thursday, Jupiter enters its own sign of Sagittarius and brings a new need to express ourselves, a new desire to understand the truth, to expand, and potentially fresh hopefulness. But it can also bring a new complacency in its most simplistic note. Elections are hard to predict because strong feelings interfere with intuition, but either our memories are strong enough to bring great change in this election, or, as Jupiter enter Sagittarius, a new momentum builds for fresh efforts in the future.
Our personal lives may echo this pattern. Look for competence on Friday as the Virgo Moon forms a grand trine with Saturn and Uranus in Earth signs, an intense need to communicate over the weekend, focused intensity and old memories and old wounds stirred early in the week, with one chapter ending and another beginning as the week progresses.
Friday, November 2: Get it done today as the Virgo Moon trines Uranus and Saturn; deal with the mess, make a difference. Follow through, make the calls, finish the comments, and get it done. After about 6 PM the energy level drops, the world may feel too much with us, and we will need a break as the Moon opposes Neptune tonight.
Moon trine Uranus 12:05 AM, Moon square Mercury 4:24 AM, Moon trine Saturn 8:25 AM, Moon sex tile Sun 5:40 PM, Moon opposed Neptune 11:21 PM.
Saturday, November 3: If we really rested last night, we may be ready for today’s checklist. A day of chores, and responsibilities can be fodder for good bonding if we do it together. The Virgo Moon trines Pluto in the morning and reminds us of what we haven’t done yet. Intense canvassing, conversation leans toward the critical edge. Speak intensely about personal experience but be careful not to set other people’s defenses off, as they will just entrench. Bond over good works. Look for a trace of hopefulness tonight.
Moon trine Pluto 8:14 AM.
Sunday, November 4: As the Moon enters Libra this morning and squares Saturn, take a moment to put work aside and move into right relationship with those near and dear. Expected debate as the moon enters Libra and squares Saturn midday, but consider the soul’s right relationship to spirit and then see how this balance can come into daily life and politics. Engage good conversation midday as the Moon sextiles Mercury.
Moon sextile Jupiter 1:26 AM, Moon enters Libra 2:05 AM, Moon squares Saturn 11:02 AM, Moon sextile Mercury 11:10 AM.
Monday, November 5: Work through a wave of potential discouragement this morning as the Moon squares Pluto. Memories of recent tragedies or personal loss seep up, we can feel the pressure of other people’s willpower. Center, channel the mountains and the earth beneath, feel that strength pouring in and supporting. Keep an open mind, but holds strong core values. Good changes can catalyze later as the Moon trines Mars and the Sun trines Neptune tonight. Remember ideals, hold in the mind’s eye the bigger picture.
Moon square Pluto 10:55 AM, Moon trine Mars 7:42 PM, Sun trine Neptune 11:40 PM.
Tuesday, November 6: We wake up with a strong emotional upsurge and review the memories of the recent and distant past as the Moon conjuncts Venus and enters Scorpio before 6 AM. With a strong tendency to react against the past, changes are in the works as Uranus retrogrades back into Aries, but in what direction depends on who response to the call. The emotional surge run strong all day, adding extra charge to all we do. We have access to great concentration if we ducked below the distraction and focus on something that really involves our hearts.
Moon conjuncts Venus 1:18 AM, the Moon enters Scorpio 6:02 AM, Moon opposed Uranus 6:03 AM, Uranus retrogrades back into Aries 11:58 AM, Moon sextile Saturn 3:38 PM.
Wednesday, November 7: The new Moon at 9:01 AM begins a new cycle. We don’t need a lot of words to share how we feel, because our emotions shine through action, touch, intuition. Let’s put our intentions out clearly, we can see around the corner now see down the road, and it’s important to put our intentions in a positive versus negative format; let’s focus on what we want rather than what we are weeding out. The new moon in Scorpio brings intense determination and the highest and the lowest of the zodiac, some people will waste this energy in recrimination, but we don’t have to.
Moon trine Neptune 6:30 AM, Moon conjunct the Sun 9:01 AM, Moon sextile Pluto 4:06 PM.
Thursday, November 8: Jupiter and the Moon both enter Sagittarius this morning and a weight is lifted. Sagittarius brings fresh impatience, a desire for the truth, outspokenness, and an unwillingness to put up with something that is not working. It brings up positivity if we have to choose to tap into it. Problems that have been brooding may now be dealt with in a more direct solution-oriented way.
Moon square Mars 3:41 AM, Jupiter enters Sagittarius 5:38 AM, Moon trine Chiron 8:53 AM, Moon enters Sagittarius 11:59 AM. Moon conjunct Jupiter at 12:05 PM.
All times are MDT.
