The Summer waxes full and time slows down in these long days as Mercury, symbolic ruler movement, speech, and our thinking process, prepares to turn retrograde from July 7-30. The stars encourage new business this August and September, but right now they ask us to stop, think, tell stories, and nurture our healthy extended family relationships. Get right with ourselves and with one another.
Mental Mercury is now in extroverted Leo, which can help us tell wonderful stories at a family gathering and turn a lively evening at the café into performance art. But we may see hyperbole in the headlines, and, as the week progresses have a harder and harder time getting out of our own mindset and truly being able to empathize with another, even when we’re feeling generous.
Mercury appears to slow down and almost squares erratic Uranus before it turns retrograde on July 7. Already our thinking may be a little strange and our life complicated by odd technical glitches and minor mistakes. As the week progresses, we may make spontaneous, last-minute decisions of questionable judgment. But maybe we do need that puppy or some extra time off.
On Friday a grounded and earthy Taurus moon encourages us to tend life’s practical considerations. The rest of the month may be less even-keeled, so it furthers us to get organized now. A more frivolous, diffuse and fun Gemini Moon over the weekend can make it easier to communicate, but harder to stay organized.
Early next week, Mars joins Mercury in Leo and cranks up the braggadocio, instigates overacting at the dinner table and in the evening news. But we can tell great stories, and bring out our more outgoing side through the next week. Channel that Leo grace to make each moment special.
On Tuesday a new Moon a solar eclipse at 10° Cancer is only visible in the southern hemisphere but affects us all. This eclipse in deep-feeling and protective Cancer asks us to ponder the concept of true security and safety versus the illusion of temporary defenses, both in our emotional life and in our politics. It punctuates an emotional phase, and help us acknowledge changes within our family structures, as it brings to the end one cycle and starts a new one.
We may come to some new understanding of what we really need and what truly feeds us. Some may experience a nasty wake-up call around their efforts to keep secure which actually backfires and create more tension than safety. If we have nothing around 10° in our chart, we may feel it more echoing around us and the people near us rather than feel this directly. The rest will just need some extra potato salad or other comfort food.
One image we can invoke with our imagination; let this eclipse help our country heal from the eclipse of August 2017 which bisected our country in both directions; it was visible in an arc from East to West, and it peaked in a line North to South cutting our country into four sections. It didn’t cause the divisions but exposed the inner conflicts, but we’ve been feeling divided ever sense. The eclipse occurs within 3° of the USA’s Sun, given its mythic birthday of July 4. Let’s call in the image that this eclipse can help us let go of misconceptions about our country, illusions about safety and security, and help us see what will truly nourish the country as a whole.
On July 4, the Moon, Mercury, and Mars all in Leo instigate wonderful picnics and fabulous fireworks. But let’s keep the fireworks out of our personal and our stubborn political battles and help them stay in our love life and in the sky above.
Friday, June 28: Don’t rush anyone, keep up the study pressure. The mood is open-minded but we’ll want to work at our own pace and resist pressure to speed up. The parenting vibe is strong; honor the cultural mothers and fathers and notice the tendency to parent one another. Parent oneself; practice good self-care. Enjoy familiar company over dinner and let minds wander tonight.
Moon trine Saturn 5:19 PM, Moon sextile Neptune 6:38 PM.
Saturday, June 29: Keep it slow and steady; try to speed up and the work needs re-doing. By midafternoon the Moon enters Gemini, conversation picks up but our attention diffuses. Much more is discussed and then decided, but the conversation is important. Keep a good sense of humor nearby tonight as low-level anxiety can camouflage as excitement and make people cranky.
Moon trine Pluto 1:08 AM, Moon sextile Mars 12:38 PM, Moon enters Gemini 3:08 PM, Moon sextile Saturn 6:51 PM.
Sunday, June 30: Make an effort to stay organized and collected, we may be good at multitasking but can otherwise easily drop the ball. Laugh through the silly pieces and find a way to be generous later on as the Moon opposes Jupiter and lightens the heart. Good new connections form. Spirit, imagination sentimentality, and a dash of confusion swirl around the edges.
Moon sextile Chiron 1:40 AM, Moon opposed Jupiter 9:05 PM.
Monday, July 1: Say it as the Gemini Moon conjunct Venus this morning; sort out plans and say what needs to be said without a charge now, before communication tweaks later on. People gravitate to their own perspective and become more subjective as the Moon and Venus enter Cancer emotionally-centered Cancer tonight. Comfort and camaraderie further.
Moon square Neptune 12:03 AM, Moon conjunct Venus 3:47 PM, Mars enters Leo 5:19 PM, Moon enters Cancer 7:23 PM.
Tuesday, June 2: A Cancerian New Moon- solar eclipse at 1:16 PM MDT takes us to our heart and encourages us to love up our family and community, and can show us where we feel safe, what is security, and what is the illusion of security. This may boil down to just needing some acceptance and comfort food. Take an opportunity to close a cycle that is no longer productive, or has become complete, and imagine a new doorway opening to possibility.
Moon sextile Uranus 5:26 AM, the Moon conjuncts the Sun- solar eclipse 1:16 PM.
Wednesday July 3: Keep the day low-key, tend to comforts and honor a surplus of free-floating feelings. Share worries but take them with a grain of salt. Tonight, as the Moon heads into Leo, the mood may be entertaining but our personal needs get louder and it becomes harder to hear one another.
Moon opposed Saturn 1:01 AM, Moon trine Neptune 2:40 AM, Moon opposed Pluto 8:24 AM, Venus enters Cancer 9:17 AM, the Moon enters Leo at 9:19 PM, Moon conjunct Mars 11:41 PM.
Thursday, July 4: it’s a great day for fireworks, just be careful where they go off. The Moon in Leo can enliven a picnic, be open to last-minute changes in plans as the Moon squares Uranus this morning, then let go the agenda and enjoy what unfolds. A day to build memories that keep us warm the cold times. If people start to act out, the melodrama unfolds; find a way to give them positive attention to defuse the situation.
Moon conjunct Mercury at 3:50 AM, Moon square Uranus 7:10 AM
All times are MDT.
