The mood is sensitive, potentially sentimental, even maudlin as the weekend begins and the Pisces Moon conjuncts Neptune and Mars. We may feel washed away on the tide of holiday lights at one moment and overwhelmed by rising seas and complicated humanitarian crisis in another. And both realities are true. Let the feelings flow, but don’t be washed away by them.
Saturday afternoon brings fresh momentum as the Moon enters brash and independent Aries. Enough with the hypersensitivity for the moment as some brave and pugnacious note returns to carry us forward.
Some experience or aroma can trigger memories, we can appreciate gifts from the past with a fresh perspective around Sunday’s Venus-Saturn sextile. Holiday traditions, old friends, antiques, something familiar soothes us. But this aspect can also trigger a desire for our beloveds to be just as they always were, and not as they are now. People are in deep metamorphosis these days, the stars are pushing us to shift and evolve, so let’s suspend assumptions about our beloveds, because they’ve probably changed since the last time we checked in. Let’s see if we can encourage their change rather than hold them to their old position. Conversely, if we ourselves are evolving and are no longer comfortable to the people around us, we need to stand our ground and model for them what it’s like to change and ameliorate our life. We don’t need to push our changes into their face, we just need to be authentically who we are in a calm and solid way. For the most part, they’ll get used to the changes.
Midweek, feel the urge to get materially comfortable. We may want to buy presents, make cozy things or eat cookies as the earthy Taurus Moon opposes Venus. If we have difficult anniversaries around the holidays, they may be triggered off Wednesday as the Sun squares the healing asteroid Chiron. If so, take it as an opportunity to work through another layer of healing before the solstice. Fresh excitement hits on Thursday as the Sun trines Uranus and encourages us to facilitate good changes or a shift in mindset.
This December may be unusually tender, less extroverted than most winter holidays as the two emotional arbiters, Venus and Mars, remain in introspective and sensitive water signs all month, with Venus in Scorpio and Mars in Pisces. If people are quiet, or even Scrooge-like, don’t try to jolly them out of it. Many people will be drawn to a lower key, quieter time, and may have to process moments of resentment or regret. Feelings run like a strong deep River, we don’t always want to talk about what we feel because of its strength. Jealousy and possessiveness have unusual torque, but so does real sentiment.
Resentment and regret can occasionally get out of hand and riots of discontent echo through the headlines, but we don’t have to go there personally. This month may also bring a twist of fate, odd turning points both political and personal as Uranus squares the Lunar nodes. We can make these holidays beautiful nonetheless if we can scale them to fit our authentic emotions and make them redolent of comfort foods and personal traditions.
Friday, December 14: We might experience a lull in energy and possibly wish things could be different than they are. An impractical morning brings whiffs of denial, drifting spirits, and a taste of magic if we look for it. If we’re feeling permeable, let’s support the immune system and rest up. Share safety and kindness. Afternoon grows edgier, livelier, and a tad irascible; we’re ready to shift moods or change venue as the Moon conjuncts Mars tonight. Bring conversation to something close to the heart late tonight as the Moon sextiles Pluto.
Moon sextiles Saturn 12:31 AM, Moon conjunct Neptune 9:34 AM, Moon conjunct Mars 7:18 PM, Moon sextile Pluto 10:04 PM.
Saturday, December 15: It’s a good morning for a long talk with spirit: our timing can be off kilter, but our inner world and intuitive connections run strong. Look for an opportunity to share compassionately midafternoon as the Moon conjuncts Chiron. The mood heads into Aries around dinner time, wakes us up, renews our will and direction for a potentially wild night ahead. Conversation and action increase towards midnight. Avoid riot zones in Paris, but otherwise, enjoy.
Moon square Sun 4:49 AM, Moon conjunct Chiron 1:38 PM, Moon enters Aries 5:43 PM, Moon trine Mercury 11:47 PM.
Sunday, December 16: Two supportive aspects give the day panache and luck: challenges arise, but so do angels. We may long for a new freedom, though old friends come through and adventures further as Venus sextiles Saturn and Mars sextiles Pluto. Take a fresh look at old things—antiques, history, one’s personal past. Healthy boundaries can be stated clearly and succinctly, there’s no need to shout.
Venus sextiles Saturn 7:26 AM, Moon trine Jupiter 10:12 AM, Moon square Saturn 12:20 PM, Mars sextile Pluto 11:57 PM.
Monday, December 17: Morning could be potentially tough as the Moon squares Pluto and asks us to deal with some limit or disappointment, then dive into an active and innovative day. Lazy moments hover between burst of energy; our momentum improves once we get going or get inspired, but we’ll still tend to work in fits and bursts. We could feel troubled tonight; tough news comes in or temporary transportation oddities can slow us down as Mercury semi-squares Pluto. Manage unnecessary anxiety and ask what needs to be reconsidered or deepened.
Moon square Pluto 8:20 AM, Moon trine Sun 7:27 PM.
Tuesday, December 18: Check for what’s shifted or changed overnight. An earthy steadiness helps this morning as the Moon enters Taurus. Make good purchases, negotiate good deals, make holiday cookies or feed the senses in other delicious, life-affirming ways. Check the work list off steadily. Just avoid pointless political arguments while people are feeling set in their ways. Dinner time brings a tired seriousness and sanity which can mellow into a warmhearted if occasionally awkward evening as the Moon first trine Saturn, then opposes Venus towards midnight. Do not play with issues of possessiveness or jealousy.
Moon conjunct Uranus 12:21 AM, Moon enters Taurus 2:37 AM, Moon trine Saturn 8:27 PM, Moon opposes Venus 11:53 PM.
Wednesday, December 19: The mood is outspoken, tactless, and generally helpful but with a poignant emotional undertow as Venus approaches a trine with Neptune. We may talk about ideas but sense and demonstrate feelings, and experience our mind and heart on two different planes. Some familiar problem returns this afternoon as the Sun squares Chiron, if we remember the lesson to be learned before, it’s merely a review session.
Moon trine Neptune 3:33 AM, Moon trine Pluto 2:40 PM, Sun square Chiron 3:02 PM, Moon sextile Mars 5:41 PM.
Thursday, December 20: Multi-task away; juggle a dozen efforts, just don’t drop the ball where it counts as the Moon waxes into versatile Gemini and opposes mental Mercury and Jupiter. Enjoy great conversation and roam over a wide range, the truth that comes out can change the landscape as the Sun trines Uranus. But take a few moments alone when needed to avoid feeling anxious or stretched too thin.
Moon sextile Chiron 4:04 AM, Moon enters Gemini 7:34 AM, Sun trine Uranus 9:21 AM, Moon conjunct Mercury 10:41 PM.
