Imbolc. On Sunday we mark winter’s halfway point, when Persephone begins to walk towards the upper worlds, when beans were started in the kivas, and a traditional day for auguries by groundhog and other animals. Let’s be curious about what creatures cross our path, listen to one another and to our muse, as Venus sextiles Pluto and warms our hearts.
Throughout the week our attention is drawn to the big picture, to world health, national politics, and our relationships with our community while the Sun and Mercury walk through farsighted Aquarius. The mood will be generally feisty and outspoken with Mars in direct Sagittarius, yet with vulnerable, permeable undertones as Venus pulls away from a conjunction to Neptune in Pisces. A few days ago, Venus conjunct Neptune, and Mars squared Neptune which offered a lovely creative and spiritual edge, inspired rich midwinter dreams, but can also leave us feeling a bit emotionally permeable and vulnerable to germs and invasive attitudes. We may want a bit of insulation between ourselves and the rest of the world.
This weekend starts out under a feisty Moon in Aries that can support both our immune system and feed our tempers and reaction times. The world stories on the emergent coronavirus can expand in our minds, and make us painfully aware of how important it is that we take care of the health of the planet and all its occupants, in order to protect the health of any individual within. Our fates are intertwined.
On a more fundamental level we’re dealing with an ongoing year-long seismic shift of structures and systems as Saturn and Pluto continue their conjunction, although it’s past its peak. The rumbling shift of tectonic plates and political systems, change in the cast of characters as old leaders leave, and changes in family dynamics all call us all to step up to the plate.
The Moon leaves feisty Aries and heads into Taurus late on Friday, so we’ll want to get into our bodies and get comfortable for the weekend. Some great plan that we might have had may seem like less fun than a good night sleep and some good food. If we’re trying to talk somebody into something, whether it’s a political view or an adventure, it will help to express how much more comfortable they’ll be when this is in place.
On Sunday, Venus sextiles Pluto and warms our hearts, or pulls our heartstrings and asks for an act of compassion. It certainly asked for an act of affection. The mood shifts gears, gets less stubborn, even more sensitized as the Moon enters communicative Gemini and Mercury enters sensitive Pisces on Monday. We can feel less stuck in our opinions but may feel more easily overwhelmed by if we tried to juggle too much. It will further for us to do one thing at a time, make sure that we are rested, well fed, that we refill our wells so that we can pace ourselves until spring kicks in. Midweek, Mercury forms a friendly sextile to changemaker Uranus, helps us communicate and adapt to shifting circumstances, and helps us get the word out. Mercury turns retrograde after Valentine’s Day so it’s a good time to put plans in place for the next few months.
