This Friday morning a new Moon in Aquarius (close to Mercury also in Aquarius) calls us to start a new cycle in our relationship to our pack, however we define this, whether we feel connected to the community of our family, our spiritual circle, the body politic, or the family of humankind. We’re asked to investigate how we relate to that larger group and balance our individual needs along with theirs.
January began with a once-in-38 years Saturn-Pluto conjunction which challenged or escorted out saturnine types, such as teachers, parent figures, mentors, managers, old systems and authority figures. We honor the good ones leaving and wave goodbye to the oppressive ones. But in its wake, as the ground clears, many of us are being asked to take on the next level of responsibility in our work, community, or family dynamics. Let’s look around and see where we need to step forward.
Another byproduct of that conjunction has been an outing of family secrets. We can see this in the political family of our Senate. But many interesting new connections are being made within families, unknown relatives appear, details emerge where there had only been stories or smokescreen. If this is happening to a beloved, give them a lot of room to integrate the new information, the foundations of their psyche are shifting and need time to adjust.
This week, with our focus on this bigger picture, our camaraderie with our friends and larger community may feel easier than our more intimate relationships, we feel the need for personal connection but may be just too busy or distracted as Venus in sensitive Pisces squares Mars in Sagittarius. This square between personal emotional planets can resonate internally, through our own conflicting emotions, or between ourselves and other as needs and habits collide. Just let everyone be exactly where they are, don’t try to talk them into feeling anything in particular. And let the conversation continue until all the parts began to understand one another.
This sensitive clash could intensify on Sunday as the Moon enters Pisces. Our feelings and our interpersonal signals can get foggy and confusing just when we need to understand one another. We may need a few days to process some old emotions or deal with a personal vulnerability before we can be clear with others as both Venus and the Moon conjunct imaginative Neptune in Pisces, and Mars squares Neptune, through Tuesday.
With that Mars- Neptune square, and Venus conjunct Neptune, we could long for something impossible, something more beautiful and perfect than can honestly exist. It helps to put this longing into our creations and our visualizations for the future instead of comparing our relationships to some distant ideal. It also helps to just be honest, use that frank outspoken Mars in Sagittarius; without blaming or holding another person responsible for our needs, just say what’s up, what we need, and where were going. Negotiations may be easier than we first suspect.
The Moon enters Aries on Wednesday and brings a more dynamic if aggressive energy. Our willfulness and our proactivity slam back in. This dynamic energy can really help us surge forward if we stay responsible for where we’re going, and keep the blame game out of it. That may be a tall order in politics, the fighting could get ugly, but we can use this chutzpah with positivity.
Friday, January 24: As the Moon enters Aquarius and conjuncts the Sun at 2:41 PM MST, it asks us to spend the morning reviewing our relationships to our tribe, our community, or teams. Figure out what needs adjustment as the Moon squares Uranus midday, and then take a healthy step towards a new cycle this afternoon under the new Moon. Some people clarify where they are heading, so look for intriguing public statements of intention. We may not feel particularly emotionally intimate this evening, but can deeply appreciate camaraderie at the corner pub or other social gathering.
Moon enters Aquarius 6:20 AM, Moon square Uranus 11:34 AM, Moon conjunct Sun 2:41 PM.
Saturday, January 25: Whether it’s sports, politics, or cleaning house– collaboration furthers. If we feel like our ideas are included in the solution, we will be more cooperative. People can be philosophically fascinating but interpersonally oblivious, so don’t take it personally. Expect beloveds to be more tuned into the needs of the pack of the friends than to the interpersonal connections. If the world feels too crowded, take a break from humans and spend time with animals, whether that means a bird flying by, squirrels, or our pets.
Mercury sextile Mars 6:09 AM, Moon sextile Mars 11:34 AM, Moon conjunct Mercury 12:06 PM.
Sunday, January 26: This morning we may feel we responsible for our obligations to the group, and may be a little resentful about it. If we remember it’s our choice to engage, the burden feels lighter. Feelings sensitize late afternoon as the Moon enters Pisces and Venus squares Mars. Everyone may need personal attention without heavy expectations. If needs clash, listen carefully but don’t try to fix one another.
Mercury semi-square Chiron 2:31 PM, Moon enters Pisces 4:43 PM, Venus square Mars 6:36 PM, Moon sextile Uranus 10:12 PM.
Monday, January 27: The mood is sensitive for Monday morning, creative, dreamy, intuitive, and slightly cranky. Be nice to one another. Rein in emotional projections and stay in the present moment. Use this creative influx to engage divination or spiritual practice, brainstorm solutions and visualize designs as Venus conjuncts Neptune in Pisces.
Venus conjunct Neptune 1 PM, Moon sextile Jupiter 6:13 PM.
Tuesday, January 28: We can feel emotional cross currents and conflicting needs on this complex day; what we want, need, and feel, may be foggy. Our desires may be frustrated by confusing circumstances as Mars squares Neptune. But look for an opportunity to release old anger or frustration. Something we once craved may no longer be our goal. Step forward carefully and be willing to question assumptions.
Moon square Mars 2:30 AM, Moon conjunct Neptune 2:33 AM, Mars square Neptune 3:34 AM, Moon conjunct Venus 4:01 AM, Venus semi-square Uranus 5:45 AM, Moon sextile Pluto 3:20 PM, Moon sextile Saturn 6:08 PM.
Wednesday, January 29: A fresh, brash wind blows through, clears the dust– helps people say what needs to be said and get on with it. Expect tactlessness in the process, don’t be reflexively stubborn or expect people to apologize for what they want, but do hold the ground where needed. Make healthy concessions only. Look for some new clarity and what is needed and wanted as the Moon enters Aries and conjunct Chiron.
Moon enters Aries 4:50 AM, Moon conjunct Chiron 9:45 AM.
Thursday, January 30: Look for outspoken opposition, and cheerful progress. People don’t want to hear complaints; they want to hear what we’re going to do about it as the Aries Moon trines Mars. Decisive but considered action necessary this afternoon; think through consequences and make a move. We grow restless, kids and animals don’t want to sit still. Move first and try to concentrate later.
Moon sextile Sun 10:49 AM, Moon square Jupiter 7:54 AM, Moon trine Mars 6:49 PM.
All times are MST.
