We need to clarify our intentions this week. Whenever any two planets come together, like the Sun and Moon to every new moon they start a new cycle. This weekend a new 38-year cycle is initiated as Saturn and Pluto conjunct in Capricorn. What we begin now, whether we’re conscious of it, unconsciously motivated, or just for the heck of it, will sets up the rhythm for our work, our structures, security, power dynamics, all Saturn and Pluto issues, for the next 38-year cycle. In an even larger view of this conjunction, it hasn’t happened in Saturn’s own sign of Capricorn since 1517 when Martin Luther challenged the Catholic Church. This aspect can shake things up around our work, security, structure, bedrock, chains of command, and personal authority, all Saturn issues.
Let’s think about where we want our work to head, and how we want this work to peak in 15 to 20 years when Saturn and Pluto oppose and create the full Moon of this aspect. When these planets interact, they create a powerful, potentially competent aspect that can work for us if we have healthy goals, and can make a terrible snarling mess if we’re not clean and clear about our intentions.
We can look to the present political entanglements of the Mideast as an example of the potential snarling train wreck of willful action without a clear map. The cycle we’re just finishing began when Saturn and Pluto conjunct in November 1982, in the heart of the Reagan era- at the beginning of the Iran-Contra affair as Regan secretly sold arms to Iran- even while Iran was under our imposed arms embargo- and hit its peak in the Saturn- Pluto opposition of 9/11/01 and completes now. Help us set clear and healthy goals for this next cycle, because this week will be critical and strategic, then back that up with action.
The stock market tends to run strong with Saturn and Pluto conjunct. Abusive relationships tend to become more so, but also the ability to put an end to that abuse. This is a time we need to step into leadership and lead by example whenever we have an opportunity. Lead to the higher note, towards the mountain top.
Many people are experiencing the loss of someone they thought of as an elder, a Saturn, a teacher like Ram Dass or astrologer Noel Tyl, or the death or the disillusionment around a more personal elder. This aspect asks to internalize their teaching and nurture an inner guiding voice, not to be restricted by the voice of their teacher/parent, but to tap into the best of Saturn’s wise potential.
The weekend begins on Friday with a blast of defensive genius under a full-Moon lunar eclipse in self-protective Cancer at 12:21 PM MST, all while the Sun and Mercury semi-square defensive Mars and Uranus stations to turn direct after a long retrograde. It could be a pivotal day. Expect the unexpected, visualize and work for peaceful solutions at home and around the world. Instead of being prickly with one another, let’s see if we can find ways to make each other feel safer and at home.

Use delays as a chance to look for the flaws in a plan before it goes into action, it will save work in the long run.
